Gustav and the Turtle

Well, within two weeks Reese experienced her first two tropical systems. First was Fay which proved to be a non-event for us. The second, Gustav, caused a bit of a panic but all ended fine. Coco is always on the ball and she had a room ready for evacuation. By Sunday afternoon, the storm looked bad but not like we would get a direct hit. We cancelled the reservation and rode out the storm at the house. It rained and rained and rained, but that is it!!!!!!!! So far we have even made up our yearly rain deficit. Pretty good. The storm did cause school to close for a day but that is it. Now Ike is coming and we get to watch its path now. Crazy how we have gone years without storms and we seem to have one every week and a half.

Later in the week we had an interesting visitor. Reese decided she wanted a pet, but the huge aligator snapping turtle that came to the house is not what she expected. She probably thought she would get a tiny turtle like the Wonder Pets Tuck. Oh well, maybe for her birthday. Cheers.
